Creating save files can help resolve many issues.
Do you see a Load Failure error? The easiest solution is to select the New Save button.
If that doesn’t solve the problem, please follow the steps below to create a new save file. A new save file will not affect your progress or Inventory. Training Sequences, Video Settings, and Tutorial completion data will be removed with the following steps.
To fix this we suggest creating a new save file. A new save file will not affect your progress or your inventory. Some data will be removed when creating a new save data file. For more info check out: What Information is Stored Locally and what is on the server.
The steps below will create a backup of the existing save file. Your Replays, Training Sequence, Video Settings, and Tutorial Completion Data will be saved as a backup.
Backing up your data:
All Nintendo Switch Online members have access to automatic backups. Rocket League will automatically save to the cloud when you have an internet connection.
This setting is enabled by default. You can confirm that it is enabled by following the steps below.
- Select System Settings from the Main Menu
- Select Data Management
- Select Save Data Cloud
- Select your user account
- Select Settings
- Select Automatic Save-Data Backup
- Switch this feature to ON if it is off

Disable Automatic Save-Data Download to prevent the existing Cloud backup from being copied to your console.
This will let Rocket League create a new save file.
- Select System Settings from the Main Menu
- Select Data Management
- Select Save Data Cloud
- Select your user account
- Select Settings
- Select Automatic Save-Data Download
- Switch this feature to OFF
Delete the existing save file and launch Rocket League to create a new save file:
- Select Settings from the Main Menu
- Select Data Management
- Select Manage Save Data/Screenshots
- Select Delete Save Data
- Select Rocket League
- Select the Nintendo profile that is having the error
- Select Delete Save Data
- Launch Rocket League to create a new save file
The next time you launch Rocket League, you shouldn’t play the tutorial again.
If a new save file solves the problem, you will want to re-enable Automatic Save-Data Download:
- Select System Settings from the Main Menu
- Select Data Management
- Select Save Data Cloud
- Select your user account
- Select Settings
- Select Automatic Save-Data Backup
- Switch this feature to ON if it is off
If the new save file did not solve the problem, you can download the save file backups from the Cloud.
This will recover the Replays, Training Sequences, Video Settings, and Tutorial Completion Data:
- Return to the Home Menu
- Highlight Rocket League
- Press the + button on your JoyCon to open the Rocket League software menu
- Select Save Data Cloud
- Select the desired user
- Select Download Save Data
